GAINESVILLE, Fla., January 17, 2017 – Nationally-recognized over three decades of public service, Glenda E. Hood has been elected Chair of SantaFe HealthCare and Affiliates’ Board of Directors. Ms. Hood was Founding Partner of TriSect, a civic innovation firm, and her transformative leadership includes service as Florida’s Secretary of State and three terms as Orlando’s first woman mayor. A fourth-generation native Floridian, Ms. Hood will lead a Board that provides unified governance for the Gainesville-based family of not-for-profit companies.

“SantaFe HealthCare is unique in that each of its Affiliates provides care for Floridians at different stages of life,” stated Ms. Hood, referencing the continuum formed by SantaFe’s Affiliates - AvMed’s health plans, SantaFe Senior Living’s retirement communities, and the compassionate end-of-life and palliative care provided by Haven Hospice and VNA/Hospice of the Florida Keys. “The true SantaFe difference, however, doesn’t only come from the breadth of services offered, but from the shared values that inspire our 2,400 Associates to deliver an unsurpassed experience. I’m honored to serve and appreciate the opportunity to lead a highly-engaged Board building on the exemplary leadership of retired Florida Farm Bureau General Counsel Scottie Butler, Esq., who served as chair for the past 12 years.”

“As impressive as Glenda’s resume is, it’s overshadowed by her commitment to service excellence,” said SantaFe HealthCare President and CEO Michael P. Gallagher. “She’s one of the very few leaders I would label ‘visionary.’ She’s earned that recognition at every step of her career. The SantaFe Board and I are thrilled to leverage her talents, which will help strengthen our differentiating not-for-profit mission of serving Floridians through all stages of life.”

The Board also elected Santa Fe Community College President Jackson Sasser, Ph.D., as vice chair, while reappointing retired Sears executive Albert E. Dotson, Ph.D., as secretary, and Center State Bank of Florida President and CEO Robert L. Epling as treasurer.
