Tim Bowen Named President, Five Vice Presidents Announced

GAINESVILLE, Fla., October 20, 2008 Haven Hospice, a leading not-for-profit hospice and palliative care organization that serves patients and families across 18 north Florida counties, announced a leadership restructuring today, including the appointment of a President and five new Vice Presidents.

Tim Bowen, who previously served as Haven Hospice's Executive Director, has been named the organization's President, effective immediately. Bowen will focus on the growth and strategic direction of Haven Hospice, which has grown to become one of the largest and most respected hospices in the United States.

The restructuring is an outgrowth of the strategic plan that Haven Hospice implemented in 2008. The appointments are a natural next step in the evolution of the organization, as resources and operations are realigned to accomplish ambitious strategic growth and expansion initiatives, said Michael P. Gallagher, President & Chief Executive Officer of SantaFe HealthCare, the parent company of Haven Hospice and its other affiliates, including AvMed Health Plans and SantaFe Senior Living.

Gallagher has been serving as President & CEO of Haven Hospice, and he will continue to serve as CEO. “Tim has dedicated more than two decades to helping patients and families maximize the quality of their lives when they seek hospice and palliative care," Gallagher said. “He's demonstrated a personal commitment and compassion in meeting the needs of the people we serve throughout north Florida, and he's done an exceptional job in leading Haven Hospice. He will be a great President as our organization continues to grow and expand its quality programs and services."

Bowen has more than 23 years of experience in the hospice and palliative care field and has been with Haven Hospice since 2000. He has been an active member of state and national hospice organizations and has served in many leadership positions within the industry. Most recently, Bowen co-founded the Hospice Roundtable, a group of chief executives from preeminent not-for-profit hospice organizations across the country.

Meanwhile, the following Haven Hospice employees were appointed to Vice President positions:

Cassie Donovan, Vice President/Operations: Donovan joined Haven Hospice in 2004. Previously, she served as Senior Director of Operations and Clinical Programs for Haven Hospice. Prior to Haven Hospice, she was the Executive Director of Hospice of Citrus County, Inc.

Michael Morse, Vice President/Organizational Advancement: Morse joined Haven Hospice in 2005 and previously served as Senior Director of Organizational Advancement. Prior to joining Haven Hospice, he was Vice President, Resource Development, for United Way of North Central Florida.

Patricia Law, Vice President/Chief Financial Officer: Law joined Haven Hospice in 2007 as Chief Financial Officer. Previously, she was CFO of Big Bend Hospice, Inc., in Tallahassee.

Andrew Gray, Vice President/Business Development: Gray joined Haven Hospice in 2007. Prior to Haven Hospice, Gray was with Motorola Inc. for more than 25 years, most recently serving as Vice President and Director, Latin America Division.

Arthur Clark, Vice President/Chief Information Officer: Clark joined Haven Hospice in 2008. Previously, he was Director of Information Services for John Sealy Hospital in Texas.

Earlier this year, Haven Hospice became the only hospice program in the United States to win the American Hospital Association's prestigious Circle of Life Award. Sponsored by the AHA, along with the National Hospice and Palliative Care Organization, the American Medical Association and the American Association of Homes and Services for the Aging, the Circle of Life Award was presented to just three organizations nationwide and is the highest honor in end-of-life and palliative care.

Haven Hospice was founded in 1979 with humble beginnings in a one-room office in a local hospital. It has since grown to an organization with more than 550 employees and 1,000 volunteers serving patients and their families in 18 north Florida Counties that cover more than 13,000 square miles. Since its inception, Haven Hospice has provided care and counseling to more than 40,000 patients and their families.

Haven Hospice is an affiliate of SantaFe HealthCare, a family of community-based, not-for-profit organizations serving Floridians throughout all phases of life.
